ok,the scania trucks were designated 1,2,3,4 upto the 4 series then they changed to the R series they went like so: 141=1 series...142=2 series...143=3 series etc... the 2 & 3 series had the same cab style but with updated interiors(flat dash in the 2,wraparound in the 3) the 3 series also had two cab styles, one called the streamline after the 4 series they were designated R series and there has to date been two generations of these here are some pic's to explain this 1 series(also known as the LB): 2 series: 3 series(same as the 2 but with different dash etc..): 3 series streamline(different shape door/front panels & bumper/steps): 4 series: R series: New R series(this brings you right up to date)

Information I recieved from localtowee stateing some of the information above is incorrect. I do not know much on the Scania trucks so I will pass on this information I got from him.
The Scania model numbers did not change to R series...
The first cabovers were LB80, LB111, and LB141 refered to as 80, 111, 141... With the arrival of the 2 series there were three cab variants.
P low cab, R tall cab and T bonneted "hood".. They were and still are modular cabs sharing many parts.
Often they were refered to as 92,112 but the actural model number and explanation is below.
So it became P92, R112, R142, T112, T142... Then series 3 became P93, R112, R143, T112, T143. Then series 4 became P94, P124, R124, R144, R164, T124, T144.. The later trucks were named differently and Scania stopped making a T cab.. Concentrating on cabovers only.
That left a P and R cab. Models from this point on were refered to by P and R referance and horsepower following cab letter. R480 for example.
Sometime afterward Scania added another tall cab the G series which is a six cylinder model though sharing same cab as R series.
There are also three roofs available... Standard, HiLine and TopLine. TopLine lets the driver be able to stand in the cab.
Like I stated above this information was sent to me so I do not know how accurate it is. Just passing it on.
